The highly anticipated movie Top Gun: Maverick will formally debut on Paramount+, the streaming service run by its parent studio, on December 22. It previously debuted on digital, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD earlier this year. After earning over a billion dollars at the box office, the Tom Cruise-led legacy sequel has been long overdue.

Top Gun: Maverick will undoubtedly be streamable when it premieres on Paramount+ on December 22 in the United States, Canada, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, and other markets, including the U.K. and Latin America, according to Paramount via Variety. The timing of the movie’s release coincides with the approach of Christmas. With Top Gun: Maverick’s imminent release on Paramount+, the streaming service is likely to gain additional customers, which is favourable for both those customers and Paramount Pictures as a whole.

After the events of 1986’s Top Gun, Pete Mitchell continues his adventures in this film, which is officially the fifth highest grossing film in domestic cinema history. He is called back to the Fighter Weapons School to train a new group of pilots for a potentially deadly mission, including Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw, the son of his late former RIO, Goose. Its dominance didn’t end there, and the movie is unquestionably one of the best of the year. It dominated the box office to surpass James Cameron’s Titanic as Paramount’s highest-grossing movie ever with its inspirational tale of perseverance and heart, bringing back familiar faces and introducing new ones.

Top Gun: Maverick may be purchased besides Paramount+ on all the main digital distribution networks. The sequel is available for rent or purchase on Apple TV, Vudu, Amazon Prime Video, and YouTube Movies. A physical release of Top Gun: Maverick is also available, and it comes with a tonne of extras like music videos for the soundtrack singles, deleted sequences, and a detailed look at how the aerial scenes were shot. Additionally, it has been questioned whether the movie has enough need for speed to qualify for this year’s Academy Awards.
