Season 2 of the Peacock Anthology Series “Dr. Death” Will Star Mandy Moore

Mandy Moore This Is Us

Mandy Moore has been cast as the female lead opposite Edgar Ramirez in the upcoming second season of Peacock’s Dr. Death anthology series, based on the Wondery podcast, in what will be her first appearance after This Is Us.

Moore is set to star in and executive produces Twin Flames. This Hulu series is now in development and is based on another popular Wondery podcast, as Deadline exclusively revealed.

The “Miracle Man” plot arc from the Wondery podcast’s third season will appear in Season 2 of Dr. Death. The delightful surgeon Paolo Macchiarini (Ramirez) is known for his ground-breaking procedures, earning him the moniker “Miracle Man.” The distinction between his personal and professional life starts to fuzz when investigative journalist Benita Alexander (Moore) approaches him for a story.

She quickly falls in love with Paolo but soon realizes she will learn more about him than she ever thought. A team of doctors halfway around the world uncovers their surprising discoveries that cast doubt on the “Miracle Man” as Benita learns how far Paolo will go to keep his secrets hidden.

Ashley Michel Hoban, the show’s creator, writer, and executive producer, is responsible for the upcoming season. Under the terms of his overall contract with UCP, Patrick Macmanus, who served as the show’s showrunner, writer, and EP for its debut season, will executive produce Season 2 through his Littleton Road Productions label.

The directing work will be divided between Jennifer Morrison and Laura Belsey. The first to fourth episodes will be helmed by Morrison, and the final five by Belsey.

Moore received numerous nods for the Emmy, Golden Globe, and People’s Choice Awards for her portrayal of Rebecca, the Pearson family matriarch, over the show’s six seasons on NBC.

Moore is currently engaged in several projects by the new pod agreement she just signed with 20th Television for her Roll With The Punches production company and Twin Flames.

In Real Life, Moore’s seventh album was released in May. Moore is also a prolific songwriter. Midway and The Darkest Minds are two of her most recent movie credits. Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole, Untitled Entertainment, and Gersh represent her.
