What We Know So Far About the Netflix Series Death Note

death note

Death Note, one of the world’s most famous mangas, is returning to Netflix. This time, it will be a live-action series created by Matt and Ross Duffer, aka The Duffer brothers, who are best known for creating Stranger Things, Netflix’s most successful original to date. While the Duffer brothers created Netflix’s new Death Note series, which was announced in July, it will be written and executive produced by Halia Abdel-Meguid, who is a longtime fan of the manga, speaks fluent Japanese, and has previously lived in Tokyo. She has written for Miss Annity and is currently collaborating with the Duffer brothers on Netflix’s series adaptation of Stephen Kings’ and Peter Straub’s The Talisman. By means of their Upside Down production company, the Duffer brothers will produce Death Note for Netflix. Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Jonathan Eirich, and Miri Yoon, who served as executive producers on the 2017 film, are also involved with the series as co-executive producers.

What is the Death Note plot?

The narrative centres on Light Yagami, a young genius who comes across the enigmatic “Death Note,” a book that once belonged to the shinigami Ryuk and gave its owner the extraordinary power to assassinate anybody whose name was inscribed in its pages. The series is focused on Light’s attempts to use the Death Note to carry out a global purge of people he views as immoral and to establish a society free from crime, using the alias of a godlike vigilante named “Kira,” and the subsequent efforts of an elite Japanese police task force, led by enigmatic detective L, to capture him.

Who is in the Death Note cast?

There are currently no cast members in the upcoming Netflix Death Note series as of November 2022. Nevertheless, given that this is a Duffer brothers production, we can definitely anticipate seeing a few familiar faces from Stranger Things join the cast of Death Note.

When will Death Note be available on Netflix?

The team behind the new Netflix Death Note series is currently writing the scripts as we speak, with pre-production to follow. The project is currently in its early development stage.
Death Note has no release dates set by Netflix as of yet, but given that it is still in the very early stages of development, 2023 would be far too soon. Death Note’s episode count is unknown, but we can probably anticipate a first season with at least 8 episodes, which is the standard. Or possibly 9, as some seasons of Stranger Things had nine episodes.
