How to Watch Knives Out Before Glass Onion Arrives on Netflix

Knives Out

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will be available to view in theatres in a week, and Knives Out 2 will be available to stream on Netflix in a month, but can you watch the first movie there as well? Yes, but it also depends on where you reside. The big-budget follow-up to Knives Out, which was released in 2019, will have its theatrical debut on November 23 and be available on Netflix a month later. Rian Johnson will return to the director’s chair and Daniel Craig will reprise his role as the lead actor. To refresh your memory, the original movie starred actors like Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, and Jaeden Martell.

The plot was a detective (played by Craig) attempting to sort through the murky web of lies and secrets that surrounded the tragic deaths of a well-known mystery writer and his strange, quirky family. Now, Netflix did not release the first movie, in contrast to the second one. Lionsgate, the company in charge of the original movie’s distribution, carried that out. Only the second and third movies’ production and distribution rights were purchased by Netflix.

Where can I watch Knives Out on Netflix?

Netflix has the movie streaming in multiple regions, whether by purchasing the streaming rights specifically or through existing deals with Lionsgate. Another thing to note is that the first film is not available on Netflix’s ad tier. According to Unogs, at least ten Netflix regions are streaming the film in its entirety, including:

Argentina, Colombia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Mexico, Slovakia, Thailand, and Turkey

As of the time of publication, no streaming services in the United Kingdom or the United States carried the film, leaving you with only VOD options. That means you’ll have to buy the movie separately from Apple TV, Amazon, or Google Play.

Prior to the movie’s theatrical release, Netflix is/was still attempting to licence it, and Netflix itself is important to note. “Fun fact: Netflix now desperately wants to licence the original Knives Out to stream in the U.S. when the sequel drops in December, but Lionsgate C.E.O. Jon Feltheimer, still stung by losing the franchise, isn’t exactly being helpful in making that happen,” stated Matthew Belloni in a Puck News report in September. The conversation is still going on. (Lionsgate choose not to respond.) ”
