Netflix has released the first trailer for the upcoming spy series The Recruit

The Recruit

Noah Centineo’s forthcoming Netflix series The Recruit has debuted its first trailer. The Recruit’s official trailer presents young movie sensation Noah Centineo in a whole new light. The actor, who first gained notoriety for his portrayals of teenagers in films like The Fosters and the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy on Netflix, has been transitioning to more action-packed adult roles, starting with last month’s Black Adam, in which he played Justice Society hero Atom Smasher. In the spy drama The Recruit, which premieres on Netflix on December 16, he will maintain this trajectory.

The Recruit highlights an intriguing aspect of the series: it’s not all straight-laced action. There are undoubtedly more chances for Centineo to demonstrate the comedic skills he developed in roles like the 2019 Charlie’s Angels revival and his teen comedies. There are many funny relief moments in the show because of how little knowledge his character has of what he’s doing, but there are also many more serious scenes than in his past works, showcasing Centineo’s breadth as his character becomes increasingly confused over what he learns.

The narrative centres on Owen Hendricks, a newly hired lawyer in the CIA. Unfortunately for him, he has a difficult time adjusting to his new position since he is caught up in a crazy and deadly world of power struggles and shady characters. Max Meladze, a former asset who is currently serving time for a terrible crime, has sent a threatening letter that Owen finds out threatens to reveal the entire agency unless she is cleared of the charge. To finish his job, Owen, who wants to leave his imprint at the CIA, must go all around the world. Watch the trailer below:
