Everything We Know So Far Netflix’s Millarworld Series The Magic Order

After experiencing setbacks during the epidemic, The Magic Order, possibly Netflix’s counterpart to the Harry Potter series, is once again on schedule and will begin filming in 2023. Here is a summary of all the information we currently know about The Magic Order, a forthcoming Netflix series. The comparison between the series and Harry Potter and The Sopranos holds up, for sure. Five lineages of magicians sworn to defend the planet will be followed in the show. The Moonstones are the primary family you follow throughout the comics. The comic’s introduction, as provided by Mark Millar, was as follows:

“We live in a world without monsters, and The Magic Order is the reason we can sleep safely in our beds.” In The Magic Order, magic meets the mob as five families of magicians—sworn to protect our world for generations—fight an enemy who is eliminating them one by one. They are our neighbours, friends, and coworkers during the day, but at night, they are the sorcerers, magicians, and wizards who protect us from the forces of darkness…unless the darkness gets them first.”

Who is behind Netflix’s The Magic Order?

Early on, executive producers James Wan and Lindsey Beer were attached to the projects, with Wan also set to direct and Beer serving as showrunner. Cordelia Moonstone is rumoured to be played by Olivia Cooke in the series. Peter Cameron and Joyce Sherr had joined the writing staff, and André vredal was set to direct episodes as well. It’s unclear who will be involved now. Lindsey Beer has other projects lined up, including a new Pet Sematary film for Paramount Players. Wan went on to work with Netflix on Archive 81 (it’s unclear whether it will return for a season 2) and is currently attached to nearly a dozen projects, including Insidious 5, The Nun 2, Knight Rider, and Salem’s Lot.

What stage of production is The Magic Order at?

The first Millarworld properties were acquired by Netflix in August 2017 and the first wave of titles to receive adaptations were announced in July 2018. A few months after announcing that it had acquired Millarworld, Netflix declared that The Magic Order will be the first fresh comic to be published by the service. Since then, six issues have been published, from June 2018 to February 2019, with volume 1 debuting in April 2019. The Magic Order 2 was then issued between November 2021 and March 2022, with the release of the complete volume 2 scheduled for May 2022. There will be a total of five volumes, according to Millar.

The Magic Order will be a TV series on Netflix, the streaming service initially revealed in May 2019. It was revealed that Millar and the production crew intended to start shooting in 2021. Of course, the global pandemic prevented filming from beginning in 2021. The planned location for filming was Prague, Czech Republic. The Magic Order and how we arrived at this point were briefly updated in March 2022 when Millar provided a glimpse of his plans for that year.

In a newsletter published in late 2022, Mark Millar gave fans some updates on the show and announced that filming would start on the new season the following year. He also revealed that he had recently met the writing staff for the Netflix live-action series, stating: “Had a meeting with our Magic Order writing room and such a brilliant bunch of talented and experienced geniuses around that table.”In a newsletter published in late 2022, Mark Millar gave fans some updates on the show and announced that filming would start on the new season the following year.
