First Love

The teaser for the new Japanese series “First Love,” which was influenced by the music of J-pop icon Hikaru Utada, has just been released by Netflix. Hikari Mitsushima will play Noguchi Yae in the series, and Takeru Satoh will play Namiki Harumichi. Akiyoshi Nakao, Towa Araki, Aoi Yamada, Gaku Hamada, Osamu Mukai, Iura Arata, and Kyoko Koizumi are additional cast members. The story follows a couple as they retrace the memories of their romance and is based on the songs “First Love,” which was released in 1999, and “Hatsukoi,” which was released in 2018. It began in the late 1990s and continues for more than 20 years, from the 2000s to the present.

Two songs by Hikaru Utada—”First Love,” a 1999 smash hit and musical masterpiece, and “Hatsukoi,” released 19 years later—were used as the basis for the Netflix original series “First Love.” Over the course of more than 20 years and spanning three decades (the late ’90s, the 2000s, and the present), the story follows a couple as they retrace their recollections of their amazing first love. The perfect union of Hikari Mitsushima, Takeru Satoh, director Yuri Kanchiku, and Hikaru Utada’s songs creates the ultimate love story.

The Netflix Original Series “First Love” premieres on Netflix on November 24, 2022!
