Extraction, one of the most popular Netflix films, will have a sequel in 2023. Tyler Rake’s part will be played once more by Chris Hemsworth. Here is what we currently know about Netflix’s Extraction 2. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that a sequel is being developed for one of Netflix’s most popular Original films. Even movies like Bird Box, Murder Mystery, and 6 Underground couldn’t match the number of homes that saw the movie when it was streamed—more than 99 million. Together with the Russo Brothers, who will also act as executive producers, Sam Hargrave is back to helm the follow-up. However, the story’s authorship is only given to Joe Russo. What is Extraction 2’s storyline?

Tyler Rake has returned and his crew is prepared to embark on their next mission after narrowly escaping with his severe wounds from his mission in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Tyler is tasked with saving a family who are at the hands of a Georgian criminal by infiltrating one of the deadliest prisons in the world. However, when things get heated during the extraction and the gangster perishes in the fray, his equally ruthless brother tracks Rake and his team down to Sydney in order to exact revenge.

Who are the Extraction 2 cast members?

It was announced that there would be an Extraction sequel, and Chris Hemsworth would reprise his Tyler Rake character. The actor Adam Bessa, who played Mosul, will return to play Yaz, it has already been announced. The titled character of Ruthie has since been given to Maleficent: Misstress of Evil actor Rayna Campbell, who previously appeared in Extraction as a radio technician on Nik’s team. Ketevan is played by actress and model Tinatin Dalakishivili of Georgia. Seb will be played by producer and actor Patrick Newall, who previously portrayed an unnamed mercenary in Extraction. The part of Avtandil will be played by Dato Bakhtadze (Wanted).

When will Extraction 2 be available on Netflix?

Extraction 2 was supposed to start filming in Sydney, Australia, but due to Covid restrictions, it was moved to Prague, Czech Republic. Chris Hemsworth also confirmed on Instagram that production would begin in late November 2021. Extraction had finished filming and was in post-production as of March 19th, 2022. Netflix released some incredible behind-the-scenes footage of Extraction 2 at their most recent TUDUM event on September 24th. It was later revealed that the film’s reshoots took place in Prague. “[Extraction 2] returned to the Czech capital earlier this month [November 2022] for reshoots on the project, which wrapped over the weekend after a short weeks-long shoot,” according to The Prague Reporter. Chris Hemsworth confirmed the completion of the reshoots on November 12th.
Although the film has been in post-production for several months, we recently learned at TUDUM that it will not be released until 2023. Although no specific release date has been set, we anticipate that the film will be released in early to mid 2023.
