The much-anticipated Yellowstone prequel, 1923, from Paramount+ has its debut trailer online. Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford are prepared to protect their property. Viewers can see Ford and Mirren in action as Jacob and Cara Dutton, respectively, in the 30-second teaser, which premiered during the Yellowstone season 5 opener on Sunday. Life has not been simple for the Dutton family’s current generation, as the voiceover cautions.
The official synopsis for the spinoff reads: “‘1923,’ the next installment of the Dutton family origin story, will introduce a new generation of Duttons led by patriarch Jacob (Ford) and matriarch Cara (Mirren). The series will explore the early twentieth century when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition and the Great Depression all plague the mountain west, and the Duttons who call it home.” The success of the “Yellowstone” franchise plus the high-profile cast members mean that “1923” has all the makings of becoming a huge hit for Paramount+. With over 7 million viewers per week on average during Season 4, “Yellowstone” is consistently one of the most rated cable television programmes. The prequel “1883,” starring Sam Elliott, also generated a great deal of buzz online, and “1923” may prove to be even more successful.
After an episode of Yellowstone on Sunday, December 18, Taylor Sheridan’s most recent song will make a special appearance before transferring to Paramount+ on January 1. The matriarch Cara (Mirren) and patriarch Jacob (Ford) are introduced in the second Dutton origin story (behind 1883) as they go about their daily lives in the early 20th century during a time when “pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition, and the Great Depression all plague the mountain west.”
