Alec Baldwin has filed a lawsuit against the Rust crew members responsible for the deadly shooting of Halyna Hutchins on October 21, 2021, as well as the on-set armourer. Alec accused them of carelessness in the lawsuit, and identified on-set armourer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, first AD Dave Halls, property master Sarah Zachry, and weapons supplier Seth Kenney. They were each allegedly involved in providing the star with a loaded gun on set, which would later go off and fatally shoot the young director of photography, according to the lawsuit.

In “cross complaint” filings submitted on Friday, November 11, Alec’s attorney Luke Nikas noted. He said, “This tragedy happened because live bullets were delivered to the set and loaded into the gun, Gutierrez-Reed failed to check the bullets or the gun carefully, Halls failed to check the gun carefully and yet announced the gun was safe before handing it to Baldwin, and Zachry failed to disclose that Gutierrez-Reed had been acting recklessly off set and was a safety risk to those around her.”

In a case Mamie Mitchell, the film’s screenplay supervisor, initially brought against Baldwin last year, Baldwin included all four as cross-defendants. According to Variety, Baldwin said that he relied on all four of them to carry out their duties and that Hutchins’ death was due to their carelessness. Alec Baldwin claimed that as a result, he has gone through “immense grief” and endured “an emotional, physical, and financial toll.”

The propmaster, Sarah Zachry, is also blamed in the cross-complaint for failing to appropriately oversee Gutierrez Reed and failing to keep a secure set. Seth Kenney, the supplier, is further charged by Baldwin with having a “cavalier disregard for proper separation between live and dummy ammo.”Each of the four has already denied guilt. Kenney is being sued by Gutierrez Reed for giving her live ammunition that looked a lot like dummy rounds. Kenney denies putting any live rounds in the box of dummies he gave the set.In her lawsuit, Gloria Allred’s client Mitchell claims that she was four feet away when the gun went off. She claims that in addition to experiencing emotional trauma, she also experienced excOn the basis that on-set incidents are the sole purview of the New Mexico workers compensation system, Alec Baldwin has attempted to have the lawsuit dismissed.
