Everything We Know So Far About the Netflix Series Dragon Age: Absolution

Dragon Age

Netflix is developing an anime series based on the world of the popular video game franchise Dragon Age in collaboration with BioWare. Dragon Age: Absolution will have all six episodes available on Netflix in December 2022. Here’s everything we know about Netflix’s Dragon Age: Absolution. Although Mass Effect is Bioware’s flagship game franchise (rumoured to be getting a TV series on Amazon Prime Video), Dragon Age has a special place in many people’s hearts. Outside of the main series (three video game releases), the Dragon Age universe has been expanded through various spin-off games, novels, comics, and even a tabletop role-playing game.

Dragon Age: Absolution is the third animated series in the franchise, following Warden’s Fall (2010) and Redemption (2011), although it will be the most popular one to date. South Korean studio Reddog Culture House is in charge of producing the show. The studio has experience working on Netflix-related projects; it contributed to The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, Centaurworld, and The Seven Deadly Sins, among others. Mairghread Scott, who previously worked on the animated Guardians of the Galaxy anime for Disney XD, is the author of the Dragon Age: Absolution tale.

What is Dragon Age: Absolution’s storyline?

However, we do know where the story will take place. At the time of writing, very little is known about Dragon Age: Absolution’s plot. The Tevinter Imperium will be portrayed on screen for the first time in Dragon Age history. The Tevinter Imperium has only ever been alluded to by name in the video games, so for many Dragon Age fans, this will be their first opportunity to see the antiquated human empire. The series “includes an ensemble of new characters inspired by Dragon Age lore,” according to Netflix, who also list “elves, magicians, knights, Qunari, Red Templars, demons and other unique surprises” among those characters.

When will Dragon Age: Absolution be available on Netflix?

Netflix has not specified a specific release date. We can, however, confirm that the series will be released in December 2022. We broke the news earlier this year that Dragon Age: Absolution would be arriving on Netflix on December 9th, 2022, which was confirmed with a new poster on November 10th, 2022. The series will have six episodes, which has been confirmed. The durations and titles of the episodes have yet to be revealed.
