For the forthcoming third season of Bridgerton, actress Simone Ashley is delighted to hand the reins over to co-star Nicola Coughlan. Ashley discussed her excitement for Penelope Featherington, played by Coughlan, to take the lead in season 3 and find love with Colin Bridgerton, played by Luke Newton, in an interview with PEOPLE. On the red carpet at the event on Tuesday, Ashley, 27, remarked, “She’s galloping, she’s long, far into the sunset.” Season 2 of the show was released on Netflix on March 25, although it has already been renewed.

The Netflix series’ third and fourth seasons were confirmed to be coming in April 2021. Despite the fact that filming only began in July, we already know some of the specifics. Shonda Rhimes and Chris Van Dusen, the show’s executive producers, hinted that the adaptation of Julia Quinn’s book series, on which the programme is based, would become a bit “creative” in season 3.

Netflix announced in May that season 3 would deviate from the book’s chronological order and centre on Penelope and Colin’s love story, which isn’t fully developed until the fourth Bridgerton book, Romancing Mister Bridgerton.
An Offer from a Gentleman, the third book in the Bridgerton series, continues Benedict’s love story; however, season 3 upends everything by following Colin and Penelope’s love story, which is covered in Romancing Mister Bridgerton, the fourth Bridgerton novel.
Netflix did reveal the first episode will be titled “Out of the Shadows” during Tudum: A Netflix Global Fan Event, though they haven’t confirmed how many episodes season 3 will have. Even the first few lines of Lady Whistledown were read aloud by Coughlan.
The most recent episode will focus on the romance between Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, who is still living a double life as Lady Whistledown despite her continuous disagreement with Colin’s closest friend Eloise Bridgerton. The tonne is stirred up by the addition of three daring newcomers, Harry Dankworth, Lord Debling, and Marcus Anderson.
