The release day for that movie, which stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, is November 8, 2024. He and his 21 Laps are producing the last episodes of Stranger Things, and the fifth season is still in the writing stages with no firm release date. The sheer number of movies in various stages of production demonstrates how cautious the studio is with its theatrical Star Wars movies. Following the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which although successful, fell short of Disney’s expectations for a smashing blockbuster, the corporation turned its attention to the Disney+ series. Though everyone is aware of how much more renowned Star Wars films are, it appears like everyone is merely working hard to ensure that the next one is as fantastic as everyone wants it to be.
Levy’s proposal is one of several potential movies that Lucasfilm is developing. Damon Lindelof and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy are each creating their own movies, and Taika Waititi is now working on a feature he will direct. Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, is also working as a producer on a Star Wars film. Disney has secured dates in December 2025 and December 2027 for Star Wars films, however, the company hasn’t formally assigned release dates to these projects.
With The Acolyte starting production this week and Andor now streaming, Lucasfilm has a full schedule for streaming TV. The Mandalorian’s third season and the Ahsoka spinoff are also forthcoming.
Reynolds played the lead in Levy’s time-travelling family movie The Adam Project, which was released in March. Reynolds created a weapon that resembled a lightsaber.
According to recent sources, the Lindelof or Waititi films are most likely to be the next Star Wars picture to be released in December 2025. This is further down the road as Levy won’t focus on his feature until after Deadpool 3, which has yet to begin production and won’t be released until November 8, 2024.
Levy’s career has nevertheless demonstrated that he is aware of what viewers demand. Regardless of what the critics say, he usually has success with his films and television series, and with the release of Free Guy and now Deadpool 3, he is starting to build a connection with Disney. That undoubtedly had an impact on this, and we can only conjecture as to what he has in mind for Star Wars.
