The eerie thriller “Smile” from Paramount crossed the $200 million mark at the global box office.

The movie has made $103.8 million abroad and $99.1 million domestically after six weeks on the big screen, totaling $202.9 million worldwide. Given that “Smile’s” production cost was under $17 million, the outcome is excellent.

President and CEO of Paramount Pictures Brian Robbins commented, “The extraordinary international success of ‘Smile’ proves what is possible when you offer a beautifully sticky marketing campaign on top of a masterfully created high-concept horror picture.” We’d like to express our gratitude to director Parker Finn, the incredible cast, and our top-notch production, marketing, and distribution teams for delivering a shared entertainment experience that moviegoers can only discover in cinemas!

Since “Smile” wasn’t even anticipated to be released in theaters, ticket sales are particularly amazing. The movie was made for Paramount+ and stars Sosie Bacon (the daughter of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick) as a therapist who has hallucinations after watching a patient die horribly. But after the film received positive reviews from test audiences, the company was urged to forgo streaming in favor of a full theatrical release.

It extends Paramount’s string of successful movies at the box office, which includes “Sonic the Hedgehog 2,” “The Lost City,” “Top Gun: Maverick,” and “Top Gun: Maverick” in 2022.
