The CEO of Warner Bros Discovery, David Zaslav, and renowned director Steven Spielberg recently met, leading some Henry Cavill fans to speculate that Spielberg may be in the running to helm “Man of Steel 2.” Since Christopher Nolan arrived later, it appears that he attended the conference as well. Nolan spent a lot of time working with Warner Bros. But he decided to collaborate with Universal for “Oppenheimer” because of differences over the release of his previous movie, “Tenet.” According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision email, the meeting happened. This newsletter’s text “Steven Spielberg and David Zaslav, the president of Warner Bros. Discovery, were having lunch at the Warner Bros. commissary on Wednesday. Not a bad power lunch, would you say?”
However, Christopher Nolan, who was also nearby and had just finished eating, walks over to hang around afterward. Peter Safran, the new co-head of DC Studios, entered the room after that and got to know the entire crew. (If only our microphone hadn’t shorted out in the Cobb salad!)” It will be a huge accomplishment for the DC brand if Spielberg accepts the director’s chair for “Man of Steel.”
Earlier, it was announced that Cavill would play Superman once more in the ‘Black Adam’ post-credits scene. The Last Son of Krypton himself appears in the scene and tells Dwayne Johnson’s antihero that they should chat because it has been a while since someone made the planet this frightened. The fact that Amanda Waller is sending Supes is implied but not proven (Viola Davis). Cavill held out on confirming since Superman’s appearance was a spoiler. On Instagram, he posted a video that he described as a “very little” preview of what’s to come. The future of Cavill’s Superman has been in question ever since “Justice League” flopped at the box office (earning just over $650 million on a $350 million budget, including marketing and promotion). Cavill has repeatedly insisted that the role is still his and that he has a lot more to do with the character.
There was no new footage of Cavill in “Zack Snyder’s Justice League,” the directors’ version of “Justice League,” but he did play the part. Black Adam and Superman have the same agent, Dany Garcia, and Johnson has long hinted at a fight or at least interaction between the two. So many people think Johnson deserves praise for bringing Cavill back.
