Williams is shown on the beach with Ralph Starling, who portrays Brigden, as the main character Charlotte Heywood in the opening picture. In his gaze, Charlotte sees hope. A storyline in the third season will have Charlotte returning to Sanditon with her fiance Ralph by her side. The second picture shows Lord Montrose, a newcomer to Sanditon, leading Georgina Lambe into a dance. Alexander Colbourne, whose passion for Charlotte peaked the season before, is depicted in the third picture. Since she got engaged, it appears that their romance is ended.

Jane Austen’s unfinished book served as the inspiration for Sanditon. There has been a rise in interest in Jane Austen’s enduring Regency romances in recent years. With remarkable popularity, shows like Netflix’s Bridgerton, which is based on Julia Quinn’s original romantic series, have included Austen’s distinctive aesthetic. With Sanditon, an unfinished work by Jane Austen is expanded into a lengthy television series, creating a rare link between an original work and an Austen adaptation. Season 3 of Sanditon will premiere sometime in 2023.
