A new fan entreaty calls for Netflix to get back Henry Cavill as the titular monster hunter on the famous fictional adventure series, The Witcher. Based on a series of texts of the same title by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher premiered on the streaming colossus in 2019 and quickly earned a massive following. Although Cavill’s casting as the Witcher forced uncertainty among the fanbase, their suspicions were immediately relieved as audiences found his performance beautiful. However, Cavill lately announced that he is leaving The Witcher following season 3 and will not be repeating the role in season 4. In the same report, the actor revealed that The Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth will substitute him as Geralt. Fans have understandably been worried by the news and started imagining what the real motivation behind Cavill’s decision is despite before expressing his commitment to showrunner Lauren Hissrich’s 7-year plan.
Cavill’s casting confirmed their favorite with fans as it was announced that the actor was a longtime admirer of both the original Witcher readers and the wildly famous video game series by CD Projekt Red. Although a large part of the fanbase loved Cavill’s description of the titular personality, they had problems with the direction of The Witcher‘s plot. There were several major accounts and personality changes in the book. Couple that with earlier reports that the show’s authors were not lovers of the books and vigorously copied them, and it is comprehensible why fans would make a requisition to obtain back the one aspect of The Witcher they all wanted.
When Cavill earlier dedicated to the showrunner’s 7-year plan, it came with stipulations that the show keeps Sapkowski’s work. Although a contemporary report said that Cavill’s release is a consequence of a busy work program and a selective production, the reason does not completely eliminate the chance that Cavill was dissatisfied with the leadership of The Witcher As many pleas on Change.org act as a metaphorical gesture, with little to no movement as a result, only period will tell if fans leave the show following The Witcher season 3’s premiere on Netflix in mid-2023.
