‘The Good Nurse’ becomes the most popular English-language movie on Netflix

Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne’s The Good Nurse becomes the most popular English-language film on Netflix. Over 68.31 million hours of the Tobias Lindholm-directed movie have been watched since its October 26 streaming debut. The English Language Films List for the week of October 24 to October 30, 2022, features The Good Nurse at the top for the first time. The thriller has received over 68 million views in less than a week since its debut.

The School for Good and Evil, which debuted at number two for the second week on the list with 41.95 million hours viewed, and The Stranger, which debuted at number three with just over 9 million hours viewed, were beaten out by the film, which is based on a true story about a friendship formed between two nurses as patients at their hospital start to mysteriously die. The movie has achieved Top 10 status in 93 different nations.

The Top 10 rankings for Non-English Film, Non-English TV, and English TV were also disclosed by Netflix in the same press release. All Quiet on the Western Front, a German drama that is based on the Erich Maria Remarque novel, comes in first place for Non-English Films. With 31.5 million hours seen, the Edward Berger-directed movie was among the top 10 in 90 different countries, outpacing Brazilian drama Beyond the Universe and Spanish psychological thriller The Chalk Line . With 70.02 million hours of viewing time, From Scratch (featuring Zoe Saldaa) came in first place for English TV on Netflix.

Charles Graeber’s book of the same name served as the inspiration for The Good Nurse. The movie centres on Amy Lochran (Chastain), a single mother and nurse whose life-threatening heart condition is made worse by the rigorous night shifts she works in the intensive care unit. Charles Cullen, the new nurse, and she quickly become friends because they work the same shifts. Unfortunately, Amy must compromise both her life and the security of her children in order to assist in the investigation of the inexplicable deaths of patients for which Charlie is the prime suspect.

Along with Devyn McDowell, Marcia Jean Kurtz, Dartel McRae, Joseph Fugelo, Judith Delgado, Jesus-Papoleto Melendez, Myra Lucretia Taylor, Alix West Lefler, Ajay Naidu, Jennean Farmer, Nnamdi Asomugha, Noah Emmerich, Navya La Shay, Kim Dickens, and David Lavine, the movie also stars Denise Pil. This is the first English-language feature directed by Academy Award nominee Lindholm, and it was written by Krysty Wilson-Cairns and Graeber. Ari Handel, Glen Basner, Jonathan Filley, and Josh Stern served as executive producers, and Scott Franklin, Darren Aronofsky, and Michael A. Jackman served as producers.
