Avatar: The Way of Water: New Image Teases Stephen Lang’s Return

Fandango has released a brand-new image of Stephen Lang’s Colonel Quaritch from the upcoming, highly anticipated Avatar: The Way of Water. The James Cameron-directed sci-fi epic, which is expected to run for more than three hours, is expected to be the kind of action-packed showcase that fans have come to expect from the director. Quaritch is expected to further enrage our heroes, Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaa).

In the image, Quaritch is seen carrying his assault rifle while hunting in the jungles of Pandora while wearing his combat outfit. Given Cameron’s propensity for producing cutting-edge CGI each and every time he steps behind the camera, the lush foliage of the jungle is another example of how stunning the movie is anticipated to look. The alien wildlife in the jungle serves as a reminder of what the human characters will encounter in the future.

Quaritch will appear in the sequel as a Recombinant, as was previously announced earlier this year. The memories of fallen human troops are stored in recombinants, which are avatar clones. This Recombinant will also remember what transpired and how he passed away, and he is headed straight for Jake Sully, intent on exacting retribution.

Not all of the movie’s villains make a reappearance, including Quaritch. RDA, the organisation behind the mining of Pandora for “unobtainium,” the McGuffin of the first movie and the motivation for human colonisation of the moon, is making a comeback with modern technology to counter the indigenous Na’vi people’s fighting style. In contrast to its military camp from the first movie, Hell’s Gate, the RDA has now constructed a sizable metropolis called Bridgehead with a laboratory capable of quickly developing new weapons.
