Netflix has abruptly ended Fate: The Winx Saga after two seasons, putting a stop to Bloom’s family reunion, according to the show’s creator. The drama, a live-action take on the well-liked Winx Club animated series, was not picked up for a third season.

The main character of the show was Bloom, a fire-breathing fairy who enrolled at Alfea, a boarding school for magical creatures in “the Otherworld.” She encountered other fairies representing light, water, earth, and the mind, including Stella, Aisha, Terra, and Musa. Bloom begins to uncover the mysteries of her history with their assistance.

To share the tragic news, showrunner Brian Young wrote on Instagram, “Hi all! So this is not fun news to share, but Netflix have decided not to move forward with Season Three of Fate: The Winx Saga. This is especially tough because I know how many of you loved this season. It’s a heartbreaking silver lining, but a silver lining all the same. I’m so proud of everyone who worked on the show, and so happy we got to tell the stories we did. Our cast and crew put in a ton of hard work creating this world and these characters. I’m grateful for each and every one of them, and for all of you for watching. It’s been an amazing four years. Hopefully, we’ll see each other again in the future. So much love.- Brian”

It was revealed that Bloom had been placed in stasis as a baby over a thousand years ago and brought to the Realm of Darkness, where she eventually met her birth mother, in the second season’s cliffhanger-filled finale. Sadly, viewers won’t be able to watch any more of her escapades in the future. In the second season of the series, Abigail Cowen played Bloom, Hannah van der Westhuysen played Stella, Precious Mustapha played Aisha, Eliot Salt played Terra, Elisha Applebaum played Musa, Danny Griffin played Sky, Sadie Soverall played Beatrix, Freddie Thorp played Riven, Robert James-Collier played Saul, Miranda Richardson played Rosalind, Theo Graham played Dane, Jacob Dudman played Sam, Ken Duken playe Andreas, Brandon Grace as Grey and Paulina Chávez as Flora.
