Oscar Isaac is best recognized for his work in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, but he also just made a comeback as Marc Spector and his alter egos in Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight. While he hasn’t been seen since the franchise transitioned to streaming, the Guatemalan actor stole the show as Poe Dameron in the galaxy far from 2015 to 2019.
Even though the movie portion of the Star Wars narrative is more uncertain than ever in the modern era, Isaac has been open to the possibility of making a reappearance in the Star Wars universe as the iconic fighter pilot. Isaac said he would be open to exploring moving forward with another installment to his legacy in this franchise as long as the team behind this intergalactic adventure brings “a terrific narrative with a wonderful director.” Now that he’s left the possibility of a comeback open in the future, he’s returned to that concept once more.
Oscar Isaac Awakens Hope for Star Wars
Following his appearances in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, Oscar Isaac discussed his thoughts about reprising the role of Poe Dameron with The Hollywood Reporter, especially after taking “some space to be able to do other things” lately:
“And that’s kind of it for the moment. I took some downtime to be able to do other things, like be here with my friends and put [Head Wounds] out into the world.”
Is Oscar Isaac Planning a Return as Poe Dameron?
Fans are going crazy merely hearing that Isaac is open to returning to Star Wars, even if he still hasn’t provided a firm statement on the subject. The bigger question right now, though, is if it will truly happen given how the Star Wars movies are doing.
Since The Rise of Skywalker, which came out in 2019, was the last Star Wars film to actually be released on a big screen, there are currently no indications as to when the theatrical portion of the Star Wars saga will even return. Since then, Rogue Squadron has been dropped from the schedule, and significant changes have been made to the management structure at Lucasfilm, raising the possibility that the films may be put on hold for the foreseeable future.
Not all hope is lost, though; according to reports, characters from the second trilogy, including Poe, could appear in currently-in-production films. Additionally, the Disney+ series has a promising future and is now under development, opening up a possibility for Isaac to return with the appropriate chance.
