The season 1 finale of House of the Dragons streamed Monday morning on Disney+ Hotstar. Since then, there has been a lot of analysis, discussion and analysis of popular shows. But one particular scene surprised many. In it, Prince Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) sings Hugh Valyrian for an unknown dragon. A show like this doesn’t do throwaway scenes, which is why many are wondering how important it is. We’ll explain who this dragon is and the importance of this scene to the show’s future.

House of the Dragons is a spin-off of the hugely successful Game of Thrones, both based on the writings of George RR Martin. House of the Dragons focuses on a civil war within the Targaryen Houses, described in the books as a dance of dragons. The season finale laid the groundwork for that war as both half-brothers Aegon and Raenira claimed the Iron Throne after the death of King Viserys.

In one particular scene, Rhaenyra’s husband, her Prince Daemon, enters her Dragon Mountain cave in her Dragonstone and sings what appears to be a lullaby in her Valyrian language. The island is the ancestral home of the Targaryens of Westeros, and the caves are usually inhabited by many passenger dragons. The demon eventually faces a giant dragon and continues to sing as the beast breathes fire into the ceiling.

House of the Dragon has been renewed for Season 2. In an interview a few weeks ago, author George R.R. Martin said he needed four seasons for the story to be fully told, and fans can expect more to come. However, it takes a while before the next part appears on the screen. Season 2 won’t air for another two years, according to showrunners.
