The name of the cartoon program is “Sausage Party: Foodtopia.” If it will be a prequel or sequel to the 2016 movie is uncertain because plot elements are being kept under wraps. All of the actors that provided voices for the movie—Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Michael Cera, David Krumholtz, and Edward Norton—will be back for the series. The series will also feature appearances by Will Forte, Sam Richardson, Natasha Rothwell, and Yassir Lester. It is presently being produced.

Rogen and Evan Goldberg claimed that the “Sausage Party” represents the apex of what is possible in cinema. They said, “Film used to be the better art form to television.” However, given that television has supplanted cinema as the dominant form of entertainment, we’ve chosen to continue the epic journeys of our culinary team in the soon-to-be-famous television masterpiece “Sausage Party: Foodtopia.” It has all the heart, twice as many jokes, and three times as much food-on-food sex. Therefore, it is just what the world needs at this time.

The movie “Sausage Party” made its world premiere in March 2016 at SXSW before getting an August theatrical release. The R-rated movie exceeded expectations at the box office, earning almost $140 million globally against a purported $19 million budget.

According to Vernon Sanders, chief of worldwide television for Amazon Studios, “The original ‘Sausage Party’ was an extraordinarily entertaining, irreverent, one-of-a-kind entrée into the world of animation.” We are excited to work with Seth, Evan, and their team at Point Grey once more, as well as our partners at Annapurna Television and Sony Pictures Television, to provide a fresh perspective on this universe for our international Prime Video subscribers.

On “Foodtopia,” Ariel Shaffir and Kyle Hunter serve as executive producers and co-showrunners. They also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Rogen and Goldberg. Under the Point Grey Pictures label, Rogen, Goldberg, James Weaver, and Alex McAtee executive produce. In addition to executive producing, the film’s co-director Conrad Vernon also acts as the series’ supervising director. Megan Ellison, Patrick Chu, Andrew Millstein, and Annapurna Television all serve as executive producers. Co-producing are Amazon Studios, Sony Pictures Television, and Annapurna Television.

According to Sony Co-President Jason Clodfelter, “The original picture was another irreverent comedy from the wonderful comic minds of Seth and Evan.” We were delighted to be a part of the partnership and equally happy to have Prime Video as our partner when Annapurna, Seth, and Evan asked us to completely reinvent the project as a TV series. We anticipate the excitement around Sausage Party: Foodtopia, which looks to be a success.
