Rihanna and Dave Chappelle, just two of the famous people who attended a recent screening of “Emancipation,” helped to support Will Smith’s return. Smith’s first film to be released since the 2022 Oscars, when he smacked presenter Chris Rock on stage, is the Antoine Fuqua-helmed thriller about enslavement.

Smith may be seen with several other celebrities in an Instagram shot attending the “Emancipation” screening, including Rihanna, Chappelle, Kenya Barris, and ASAP Rocky. “EPIC night!!” Smith said in the caption. Thank you for attending #Emancipation. I hope you all enjoyed it Smith plays an escaped slave in “Emancipation” who gets the nickname “Whipped Peter” because pictures of the keloid scars on his back were published to demonstrate the brutality of slavery. The movie follows Smith’s character as he makes his way across Louisiana’s marshes to get away from the plantation owners who almost murdered him.

“Emancipation” is still haunting me, Perry stated on his Instagram story. “It’s potent, compelling, and touching. And the conversation that ensued with this bunch is legendary. Thanks for the sneak peek, Will Smith’s Emancipation is pure art, power, and all else a movie should be, said Barris in a post on his Instagram account. You’re in luck, Will Smith Smith’s behavior at the 2022 Oscars resulted in a 10-year expulsion from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. In a video apology that he published in July, the actor termed his behavior “unacceptable.”

In the video, Smith, who occasionally sighs heavily and appears to be holding back tears, adds, “There is no part of me that thinks what I did at the time was right.” I don’t believe the best way to respond is to be impolite or offended It’s all hazy, Smith continued. When I contacted Chris, he responded that he wasn’t yet ready to speak, but would do so later.

“Emancipation” had its theatrical debut on December 2 and will begin streaming on Apple TV+ on December 9.
