Even though we may believe that we have seen every war movie there is, nearly every year a new one emerges to prove to us that there are many personal tales associated with war that may be explored from a myriad of perspectives for as long as film and television choose to tell them. This is amply highlighted in the newest teaser for All Quiet on the Western Front on Netflix. Before its Netflix debut the following week, the war drama had already made its debut at several film festivals and had a brief theatrical run (aiming for an Academy Award nomination).

The German-language trailer gives the impression that, although being based on previously adapted material, the film makes a point of being aesthetically and thematically unique from earlier incarnations and other war films. The film is a must-see only based on the photography, which also includes some breathtaking scenes like the one showing a tank crossing a trench.

Patrick Melrose, The Terror, and Your Honor episodes were originally directed by Edward Berger, an Emmy candidate. Together with Lesley Paterson and Ian Stokell, who are also debuting as screenwriters for major motion pictures, Berger wrote the script for the movie. The plot is based on the renowned 1929 German novel by Erich Maria Remarque, which was made into a film in the 1930s and a critically praised 1979 television film.

Currently playing in cinemas, All Quiet on the Western Front will make its Netflix debut on October 28. The trailer is available to view below:
