Michelle Williams will be honored as a performer at the Gotham Awards

The four-time Oscar nominee plays the lead role in Steven Spielberg’s newest movie, “The Fabelmans,” which is based on the celebrated director’s upbringing. At the 2022 Gotham Awards, Michelle Williams will be recognized with a performance tribute.

The Fabelmans, a new movie by famed director Steven Spielberg and based on the director’s upbringing, starring the four-time Oscar nominee. Williams portrays Mitzi Fabelman, the creative mother of an aspiring filmmaker, in the film, which will be released in cinemas next month after taking home the People’s Choice audience prize at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival.

Williams’ performance in the FX limited series Fosse/Verdon earned her an Emmy, a Golden Globe, a Critics’ Choice Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. My Week with Marilyn, Blue Valentine, Manchester by the Sea, Brokeback Mountain, All the Money in the World, The Greatest Showman, Venom, and its follow-up, Let There Be Carnage, are just a few of the movies she has acted in. Williams’ accolade was revealed shortly after it was revealed that the Fire Island cast will be recognized as an ensemble at the Gotham Awards.

Gotham Film & Media Institute Executive Director Jeffrey Sharp stated in a statement, “We are especially happy to celebrate Michelle Williams, whose iconic performances in conjunction with our most renowned filmmakers have identified her as a top artist of her generation. Since making her acting debut as a youngster, Michelle has continually improved her skills and expanded the parameters of her parts. Michelle is a real New Yorker, and we are honored to honor her with a Performer Tribute at this year’s Gotham Awards and claim her as one of our own.

The nominees for the 2022 Gotham Awards will be revealed by actress Angelica Ross (Pose, American Horror Story, Chicago) on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 9 a.m. PT.

On November 28th, the 32nd Gotham Awards will be held at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.
