We can’t help but start looking ahead to the early 2023 movie releases as 2022 draws close so we can prepare for the new year. The first adrenaline-fueled trailer for Creed III, one of the most eagerly awaited games of the first trimester, was released today. The focus of the narrative will once more be Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan), who is continuing Rocky Balboa’s and Apollo Creed’s tradition by forging his way in the boxing ring (Carl Weathers).
The gorgeous character posters that United Artists unveiled yesterday, which highlight the rivalry between the main character and Damian Anderson, are followed by the trailer (Jonathan Majors). The teaser implies that Creed knew Damian as a child, even if their friendship doesn’t last very long. Damian had just been released from jail at the opening of the movie.
The teaser also provides us a sneak peek at what we already knew we would see, such as a fight between Creed and Anderson and the instability of Adonis and Bianca’s (Tessa Thompson) relationship, which is threatened by Damian. Sylvester Stallone, who isn’t in the movie series for the first time, is noticeably missing from the teaser. But it makes sense that the mentor stays out of this one given that Creed is likewise about a warrior emerging from the shadow of his forefathers.
In addition to being the third installment of a franchise that unexpectedly proved popular, Creed III also marks the directing debut of the film’s primary actor. Jordan is well-known for his portrayal of the beloved villain Eric Killmonger in Marvel’s Black Panther and for his iconic parts in films like Fruitvale Station and the TV blockbuster The Wire.
Based on a story from the previous director of the franchise, Ryan Coogler, Zach Baylin and Keenan Coogler (Space Jam: A New Legacy) wrote the script (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever). Selanis Leyva, Phylicia Rashad, Thaddeus J. Mixson, Spence Moore II, and actual boxers Tony “Bomber” Bellew, Jacob “Stitch,” Canelo lvarez, and Florian Munteanu are all included in the Creed III ensemble.
The film Creed III debuts on March 3, 2023, in cinemas. The trailer is available to view below:
