By now, Luther television series fans should be aware that a Netflix film is in production. Fans will also be happy to know that post-production has been ongoing for several months since filming wrapped up in early 2022. We had anticipated for a 2022 release, but it looks like we’ll have to wait until 2023. Who are the Luther cast members?

Only a few actors have been announced to date as Luther’s cast members, but it goes without saying that Idris Elba’s return to play Luther is the most obvious choice. An undisclosed part has been cast for Cynthia Erivo, who is most recognised for her work on Bad Times at the El Royale and Harriet. Erivo will reportedly play Luther’s adversary, according to rumours.
The villain will be portrayed by beloved The Lord of the Rings and Planet of the Apes actor Andy Serkis, who has also been confirmed. Dermot Crowley is back to play Schenk once more. The identities of the remaining cast members are still a mystery.

When will Luther be available on Netflix?

Idris Elba stated that production on the set of Luther got started in November 2021 with a behind-the-scenes image. Filming lasted a couple months before wrapping up in mid-February 2022.
Netflix has yet to reveal an official release date. We had thought Luther would arrive on Netflix before the end of 2022, but it’s becoming increasingly evident that Luther won’t arrive until 2023. Luther will not be available on Netflix UK because it is a co-production between Netflix and BBC Films. Luther will most likely be available to view on BBC iPlayer before making its way to Netflix.
