Disney Fans Get Their First Major Look at Twisted Wonderland Anime Ahead of 2025 Release

The _Twisted Wonderland_ anime adaptation has been officially unveiled during Disney Content Showcase APAC 2024, bringing something to create a buzz not  only for the anime fans but also for fans of Disney. Based on the super popular gacha adventure game from f4samurai and created by "Black Butler" manga creator Yana Toboso, the anime is expected to take the fans into a spellbinding journey through the world of villains, heroes, and arcane academia.

In October 2025, Disney+ will be the exclusive home for the first part of the new series, "Twisted Wonderland the Animation: "Episode of Heartslabyul" which  brings to life characters from the game in Night Raven College, an arcane college heavy  with  mystery. Focusing on Riddle Rosehearts, the fiery leader of Heartslabyul, this episode will see her inspiration turn out to be the Queen of Hearts from "Alice in Wonderland".

The anime has a formidable creative team under the guidance of chief director Takahiro Natori, who notably handled both seasons of "Tokyo Mew Mew". The  series is also directed by Shin Katagai (Cue!), with Yoichi Kato known for his work on "Aikatsu!" and "The IDOLM@STER" franchises. Animation is done by "Yumeta Company" and "Graphinica", respectively handling work on "Muv-Luv Alternative" and "Tokyo Mew Mew New".

This powerhouse team will make sure the anime adaptation stays true to the source material while elevating its storytelling and visual impact. There is also a new key visual released during the showcase showcasing all seven dorm leaders from Night Raven College, such as Riddle Rosehearts, Leona Kingscholar, Azul Ashengrotto, Kalim Al-Asim, Vil Schoenheit, Idia Shroud, and Malleus Draconia.
"Twisted Wonderland" is different from other Disney franchises in that it reinvents the realms of the bad guys. Unlike typical Disney stories, which present  villains as problematic characters, the animated series really gets into their heads  and pits out complicated individuals with purposes.

The story begins with players summoned by a magic mirror to "Night Raven College", where they are trapped in a world full of eccentric and highly competitive students. Each dorm is themed after iconic Disney villains, offering the  classic  characters in a new light. As the protagonist navigates the challenge of the arcane academy, they start finding out secrets hidden within the hearts of the students and the school itself.

Disney's official description teases: "Perhaps there's more to 'villains' than meets the eye. Will you be able to work with the students and eventually return home? And what secrets lie within the villainous hearts of these students Expanding Disney's Anime CatalogDisney is expanding its bets on anime, and the _ Twisted  Wonderland_ anime is a part of that. Along with this show, Disney has  committed to several high-profile anime shows in recent announcements, including "Akira Toriyama's "Sand Land" and the follow-up installment of BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War. Disney also added 18 "Macross" titles to its back catalog and continues to stream fan-favorites like "Boruto" and "Naruto" on Hulu.

The game that "Twisted Wonderland" was inspired by was hit with its captivating  storyline, intricate designs of characters, and dynamic gameplay. Its success  resulted in a manga adaptation that ranked in CBR's list of "10 Best Manga Based on Disney Movies". The anime adaptation is going to bring forth these elements in  the best way possible, bringing out a visually stunning experience about  the  world and the characters deep enough to be used in one's imagination.

With its release date slated for October 2025, "Twisted Wonderland" is sure to be one of Disney's marquee anime launches. Fans are already speculating on  whether this will be another adaptation that blossoms into capturing the game's charm while adding new layers to its story. Disney's Twisted Wonderland the Animation is coming exclusively to Disney+ in 2025. Mark your calendars and get ready to enroll in Night Raven College this October!
