Chargers’ LB Khalil Mack Leaves Game with Elbow Injury vs. Raiders
Khalil Mack, the veteran outside linebacker for the Los Angeles Chargers, was forced out of Monday night’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders after sustaining a painful left elbow injury. The incident occurred on the final play of the first quarter when Mack’s arm was awkwardly caught between teammate Troy Dye and Raiders receiver Tre Tucker while attempting a tackle. Holding his wrist in obvious discomfort, Mack left the field for medical evaluation.
After being tended to in the medical tent, he returned to the sideline in the third quarter—now with his elbow heavily wrapped and placed in a sling—but was officially ruled out of the game before halftime. Prior to the injury, Mack had already recorded his first sack of the season (and 108.5th of his career) in what began as a promising night for the defense.
The Chargers stated that Mack will undergo imaging tests to assess the severity of the injury, with no definitive timeline yet announced for his recovery. Coach Jim Harbaugh gave minimal comment, saying he “doesn’t know how long [Mack] will be out” until results are clearer.
