Cavaliers Stay Undefeated, Dominate Warriors to Reach 10-0

Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Kenny Atkinson couldn’t hide his delight as he reviewed the box score, savoring the team’s perfect 10-0 start. This historic milestone not only marks the best start in franchise history but also makes the Cavaliers the first NBA team to open a season with 10 consecutive wins while scoring at least 110 points in each game.

"10-0 is something. It’s kind of a magic number, right?" Atkinson reflected. "I was worried about tonight because the Warriors are champions. But I was surprised by how ready and hungry we were." His high-paced, offense-driven strategy has fueled Cleveland’s dominant performances, leading the league with an average of 124.5 points per game and an impressive .527 field goal percentage.

Darius Garland led Cleveland with 27 points, while Evan Mobley added 23 in the team’s emphatic 136-117 victory over Golden State. Under Atkinson's system, the Cavaliers have seen significant improvement in offensive output from last season, when they averaged 112.6 points per game with former coach J.B. Bickerstaff. Atkinson’s style seems to be the perfect fit, a view echoed by Warriors coach Steve Kerr. "This was a great job to get. Continuity was already there, but Kenny has added his touch. He obviously is a good fit."

Atkinson’s presence has resonated with the Cavaliers’ roster, especially with All-Star Donovan Mitchell, who has embraced the fast-paced approach. Familiarity with former Brooklyn players like Jarrett Allen and Caris LeVert also made for a smoother transition. Ten players now average over 15 minutes per game, but none exceeds 31, underscoring Atkinson’s strategy of depth-driven balance.

"We’re playing fast, and we’re playing the right way," noted guard Ty Jerome, who scored a season-high 20 points. "Everyone’s making shots, and Donovan and Darius’ selflessness lets us play that way." The Cavaliers even matched their team record for points in a half with a 41-point lead by halftime at 83-42.

Despite the success, players recognize areas for growth, including rebounding and ball control. "We know we can be better, and we're not going to stop working until we get there," Allen said. "Kenny is one of the best coaches in the league, and it's showing."
