On Monday, U.S. equities closed lower, driven by losses in the Basic Materials, Consumer Services, and Financials sectors. At the NYSE closing, the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined by 0.05%, the S&P 500 index fell by 0.28%, and the NASDAQ Composite index lost 0.56%. Among the top performers on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were The Travelers Companies Inc, Verizon Communications Inc, and Procter & Gamble Company, while the biggest losers included Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc, Salesforce Inc, and Dow Inc. On the S&P 500, notable performers were Boston Scientific Corp, Molina Healthcare Inc, and Hershey Co, while Albemarle Corp, Warner Bros Discovery Inc, and PayPal Holdings Inc were among the worst performers.

On the NASDAQ Composite, Sentage Holdings Inc, China SXT Pharmaceuticals Inc, and Qilian International Holding Group Ltd were top performers, while Global Mofy Metaverse Ltd, Cue Health Inc, and MOBIX LABS, INC were among the worst performers. Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones, and the CBOE Volatility Index remained unchanged at 12.45. In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery and Crude oil for delivery in February saw declines, while the U.S. Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 101.06.
