The outage that affected Meta-owned social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and Threads, occurred on Tuesday morning, lasting approximately two hours. This timing was particularly inconvenient as it coincided with Super Tuesday, a crucial day for voters in 16 states, during which many politicians were relying on social media to mobilize support for their campaigns.

Meta, the parent company of these platforms, experienced significant disruptions, with services like Instagram Shops and WhatsApp Business API struggling to function properly. Additionally, Google encountered issues, with its YouTube platform acknowledging downtime for some users during the same period as Meta’s platforms.

However, amidst these technical difficulties faced by Meta and other major tech companies, one platform appeared to be operating smoothly. X CEO Elon Musk took the opportunity to comment on the outage, utilizing his own social media platform, which remained unaffected.

In a tweet posted on Tuesday morning, Musk humorously remarked, “If you’re reading this post, it’s because our servers are working,” highlighting the continued functionality of his platform despite the widespread outage experienced by others.

The official account for X joined in on the humor surrounding the outage with a witty post, stating, “We know why you’re all here [right now].”

Hilariously, Andy Stone, the spokesman for Meta, had to turn to the rival platform to address the disruptions experienced by his company’s social media sites. Stone took to X to inform users about the technical issue, stating, “Earlier today, a technical issue caused people to have difficulty accessing some of our services. We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone who was impacted, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”

As news of the outage spread, users on X seized the opportunity to poke fun at the situation. Hashtags such as “#instagramdown” and “#facebookoutage” began trending on the platform, prompting humorous reactions from X users.

One user shared a meme showing Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, humorously watching people flock to X to check why Facebook and Instagram were down, capturing the light-hearted banter that ensued amidst the technical disruptions.

Users continued to express their amusement at the situation, with one sharing a video of an escalator rampage to humorously depict Facebook and Instagram users rushing to X to confirm if the platforms were down for everyone else.

As Meta grappled with its service disruptions, users on X were enjoying the lighthearted moment—along with the platform’s owner, Elon Musk, who cheekily acknowledged the irony of X being unaffected by the outage.
