Other than Tesla, Elon Musk is also the founder of a tunneling business that goes by the name of the ‘Boring Company’ in the market. In recent updates, it has come to light that the Boring Company has presented plans to build an underground transport system to to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, as per a tweet by the mayor of the town. Fort Lauderdale is the recent name in Musk’s list of cities to be equipped with ‘Tesla in a tunnel’ ideology.

Though it is just a theory at present, the town mayor is already singing praises of the plans. Dean Trantalis, mayor of Fort Lauderdale, said that the concept was an out-of-the-box one and no one had though of it before. This concept will help to minimize the traffic congestion and transit needs. Trantalis revealed that the project would be named as ?Las Ollas Loop? which would run from Fort Lauderdale to all the way down to the beach.

To date, Elon Musk’s tunneling company has dug just three tunnels. These include a Los Angeles test tunnel and two short tunnels below the Las Vegas Convention Center spanning over 0.8 miles. The three tunnels still have to be proven worthy to incorporate a fully working transit system. Musk’s initial thought of an underground transit system for high-frequency self-sufficient electric sleds equipped for conveying many individuals has been rejected for a system that can just oblige singular Tesla vehicles. What’s more, industry experts have given Musk’s endeavors a role of something just like hot air.

Despite being criticized, Elon Musk has made a good impression on a few of the town’s officials by presenting conceptual Teslas carrying passengers as part of the said transit system. The Boring Company has also shown intentions to develop a similar transit system in Miami and it would cost around $30 million. All of its previous projects based on the same concept seem to be scraped completely. More details about the Fort Lauderdale project are yet to be received after the completion of competitive process.
