Uncharted is a 2022 American action-adventure film directed by Ruben Fleischer and based on the Uncharted video game franchise. It is produced by Naughty Dog and distributed by Sony Interactive Entertainment, with a script written by Rafe Le Judkins, and Matt Holloway. Nathan Drake is played by Tom Holland, while Victor Sullivan is played by Mark Wahlberg, with Sophia Ali, Tati Gabrielle, and Antonio Banderas in supporting parts. Drake is hired by Sullivan to find the mythical riches of the Magellan expedition in a race against unscrupulous tycoon Santiago Moncada (Banderas) and mercenary commander Jo Braddock (Gabrielle).
In 2008, producer Avi Arad announced that he would be collaborating with Sony Pictures on a cinematic adaptation of the video game franchise, Uncharted. It went through a long production process, with several directors, screenwriters, and cast members involved at different times. In the early stages of development, David O. Russell, Neil Burger, Seth Gordon, Shawn Levy, Dan Trachtenberg, and Travis Knight were signed to direct, with Wahlberg scheduled to play Drake. In May 2017, Holland was cast as Drake, and Fleischer was hired as director in early 2020. Principal photography began in March 2020, was abruptly suspended, and then resumed in July and ended in October of that year, with filming sites including Berlin’s Babelsberg Studio and locales throughout Spain and Southeast Asia.
The release date for Uncharted was originally slated for December 18, 2020, however it was repeatedly postponed owing to the COVID-19 epidemic. On February 7, 2022, it premiered in the Coliseum in Barcelona, and Sony Pictures Releasing released it in theatres on February 18 in the United States. Critics panned the picture, praising Holland’s performance but criticising the narrative, casting, and lack of innovation. Uncharted has earned more over $395 million globally, making it the fourth-highest-grossing film of 2022. Although the actor has got his MCU’s Spider-man: no way home movie a big hit.

Uncharted 2 has yet to be formally announced, hence no release date has been set. The first film was supposed to begin production in March 2020, however owing to the ongoing worldwide epidemic, it was postponed, but now the movie is a big hit and is running successfully. People are loving it, though 90s kids know the struggles of the video games, as they used to play the Uncharted game with a lot of lags in the software.
