Everything You Need To Know About Tom Cruise Starring Top Gun: Maverick

One of the most anticipated movies of this year is Top Gun: Maverick. After being delayed for too long, the sequel to the 1980s hit classic is ready to bring back the nostalgia. After so long, Top Gun: Maverick will demonstrate how far technology has come. Despite decades after the 1986 Top Gun, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell will once again return as the protagonist. In spite of his experience, the character has decided to not take any more roles in the Air Force. But he is assigned to teach a squad of young pilots who are training for an assignment. And one of the young pilots is Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw who happens to be the son of Maverick’s old friend who passed away.

Tom Cruise will reprise his symbolic role of Maverick whereas Val Kilmer will be playing Admiral “Iceman” Kazansky, Miles Teller will portray Rooster along with Glen Powell (Set It Up) and Nicholas Hoult. Powell is playing a young pilot trainee and other prominent actors include Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind and Blood Diamond) is going to depict Penny Benjamin who is a bar owner and Maverick’s lover, John Hamm (Mad Men) is also in the film as Vice Admiral Cyclone. Val Kilmer is battling throat cancer, he has to use voice to speak and despite that Tom Cruise insisted that Kilmer be in the movie.

During 2022 Super Bowl, a trailer of Top Gun: Maverick featured and provided a glance of other characters in the film. It also showed the ups and downs which recruits in the Air Force deal with. Filming was completed in 2019, the movie was suppose to release in the summer but the date was pushed to 2020 which further delayed it because of the pandemic. Eventually, in September, 2021, Top Gun: Maverick’s release date was set as May 27, 2022. The two giant streaming companies Netflix and Apple TV+ attempted to buy its rights but Top Gun: Maverick’s distribution company Paramount declined. So now Tom Cruise’s lovers have to wait until late May to watch the sequel of one of his most remarkable films of career.

The Hollywood Reporter reported that Top Gun will have a special screening at Cannes Film Festival between May 17 and May 28. Fans were eager to know if Kenny Loggins’s song “Danger Zone” will be a part of the movie and the good news is it will be. Kenny Loggins recently confirmed the news on Rob Lowe’s podcast called Literally with Rob Loew.

Top Gun is one of the iconic films of 1980s, with big cast such as Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, Heat (1996) and The Saint (1997) and Anthony Edwards, best known for ER (1994-2009), hit songs such as “Take My Breath Away” and “Danger Zone” and amazing aerial effects, it has all the ingredients of a fun experience.
