On 16th December, Mr Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of Aditya Birla Group, was announced the Global Entrepreneur of the Year-Business Transformation Award from Silicon Valley’s Indus Entrepreneur (TiE).
The Indian billionaire industrialist and the chairman of the Aditya Birla Group Mr Kumar Mangalam Birla is the first Indian industrialist to acquire the Global Entrepreneur Award together with the world’s top business leaders Satya Nadella, Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos.
Mr Kumar Mangalam Birla, not only received the award by himself but on the behalf of company workers and employees. He dedicated the award to the efforts of the people who helped raise the company. “It is an honour to receive this prestigious award in a year that has been marked by such unprecedented change. The Aditya Birla Group stands out for its pace of activity, range of businesses and breadth of its geographical presence,” Birla stated in a media statement.
To be precise, the prizewinner was decided by an independent jury chaired by Tim Draper, a venture capitalist and founder of Draper University. Birla dedicated the award to the employees of his organisation.
“The pandemic brought to the fore the inherent resilience and agility of the group that enabled our businesses to reboot and renew. I receive this award on behalf of 140,000 colleagues from over 100 nationalities.”
Besides, the event had announced several other winners and achievers too and Techstars won the Best Global Startup Accelerator Award, the MIT Global University Award for Promoting Student Entrepreneurship, and the Accel Award for Best Global Venture Capital Fund.
Discussing the personalities present at the award ceremony, the Policymakers, business tycoons and entrepreneurs from more than 30 countries attended the awards ceremony, and they went to Dubai to participate in the two-day TiE Global Summit.
“These awards are meant to acknowledge the enablers of the global ecosystem. These are the people who are providing opportunities for wealth creation, job creation and the inspiration to our next generation of enablers,” stated Praveen Tailam, Chair, TiE Global Board of Trustees.
