Legal Development: Suspect Arrested in Robert De Niro’s Grandson’s Tragic Demise

According to a law enforcement source familiar with the case, a woman has been detained in relation to the death of Robert De Niro’s grandchild.

Leandro De Niro Rodriguez passed away at the age of 19, his mother Drena announced on social media earlier this month. Nobody disclosed the cause of death.

According to the law enforcement source who spoke to CNN, Sofia Marks was arrested on suspicion of supplying drugs to a juvenile. According to the source, Marks has not been charged with murder. The insider claims that this is a “probable cause arrest” and that the investigation is still ongoing. CNN is attempting to track down legal counsel for Marks.

According to the source, the case has been transferred to the Southern District of New York.

Drena de Niro later commented in the post’s comments section after publishing her initial post announcing the passing of her son Leandro, “Someone sold him fentanyl-laced pills that they knew were laced yet still sold them to him so for all these people still f*king around selling and buying this sht, my son is gone forever.”

According to a recent estimate from the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, there were about 70,000 drug overdose deaths using fentanyl in the US in 2021, a nearly fourfold increase over the previous five years. It was discovered that by 2021, the strong synthetic opioid was a factor in nearly two-thirds of all overdose deaths.

When Leandro De Niro passed away, his grandfather Robert De Niro spoke to CNN to convey his sorrow at the loss:

“I’m heartbroken by the loss of my cherished grandson Leo. Thank you very much for your condolences, everyone. We kindly request space to process our loss of Leo in private.
