Anthony Edwards Shines as Timberwolves Rally to Defeat Bulls 135-119
The Minnesota Timberwolves claimed an impressive comeback win over the Chicago Bulls, ending a road-game losing streak at the United Center that stretched back to December 2018. Despite Chicago's strong start from beyond the arc, hitting six of their first seven three-point attempts, Minnesota managed to adjust defensively and clinched a 135-119 victory.
In the first half, Chicago’s shooters found numerous open looks, shooting 58.8% from three and scoring 65 points by halftime. Timberwolves coach Chris Finch and guard Mike Conley attributed the Bulls' early success to defensive over-help, which allowed the Bulls to kick out for open shots. By the second half, however, Minnesota shifted to a more one-on-one defensive scheme, cutting off Chicago’s shooters and limiting their three-point attempts.
The defensive adjustment fueled Minnesota’s offense, with Anthony Edwards leading a fourth-quarter surge. Edwards put up 33 points, including 13 in a late-game stretch that secured the win. His clutch scoring continues to define his season, with similar performances already showcased in previous wins against Sacramento and Denver. Alongside Edwards, Julius Randle (22 points) and Rudy Gobert (21 points) contributed significantly to Minnesota’s offensive firepower.
Post-game, Edwards expressed his commitment to building a consistent playoff presence and improving defensively from the start. Gobert also noted the importance of setting a stronger defensive tone early, acknowledging their halftime rallies to "start guarding" need to happen earlier. For Minnesota, this win serves as both a valuable road victory and a potential defensive turning point as they seek to regain last season’s defensive cohesion.
