Amanda Seyfried on Leaving Hollywood for a 'More Balanced Life': "The Best Decision I've Made"

Amanda Seyfried, actress for Mamma Mia Featuring in the several movies such as "Les Misérables", and "Mean Girls", had made a bold shift away from Hollywood, shunning it for a "more balanced life." In one recent interview, Seyfried candidly opened up her reasons for moving away from this world of film and fame, prioritizing a more serious mental health, close family life, and sense of fulfillment.
She calls it "the best decision" she has ever made, a decision that reflects her commitment to a grounded and fulfilling life. To Seyfried, who began in the entertainment industry at a relatively young

age, the demanding culture of Hollywood started to weigh on her. The pressure, the endless hours with little time to her name, made it difficult at times to keep a balance between the career and everything else she was aspiring to.
While adoring her film careerand relationships, Seyfried said slowly, in one way or another, she started to have a sense that maybe the constant movie projects and red-carpet events were not enough. She needed something bigger and more sustainable. She left the noisy Hollywood and moved to a more retired rural area. Today, she lives on a farm upstate New York with her husband and film actor, Thomas Sadoski, and the two children. The farm has given her the peace and privacy she longed for, helping her to embrace a slower pace of life.

"The farm has been great. I found that being close to nature and having space for the family allowed me to reconnect with who I am outside of acting," she shared.

For Seyfried, too, she did something worthwhile-she clarified her relationship with her children through the release from Hollywood. "Being there to see them grow and being there for those little moments is priceless," she said. Hollywood, in fact, kept her away from most of those precious moments, and a stable routine has given her much more time to care for them and for being with her partner.

She explained that leaving the studio did not mean she was quitting acting. Rather, she believes it is an even healthier decision for her because now she can choose what to do or not to do. "I love acting," said Seyfried, "but I needed to find a way to do it that didn't compromise my happiness.".

Looking back on her journey, Seyfried said this path isn't an escape from Hollywood but rather a step toward a richer, more fulfilling life that keeps her grounded. She advised fellow practitioners in high-pressure careers to consider their well-being and to prioritize whatever will bring them the most joy and fulfillment. "Finding balance isn't easy, but it's worth it," she explained, saying that this newfound chapter has made her a better mother, partner, and ultimately, a happier person. Amanda Seyfried's story is refreshing in the context of life beyond career ambition. She set her sights on balance and family, and in doing so reminds us that sometimes these are the very best decisions that come from stepping away and embracing a simpler, more intentional life.
