A’ja Wilson Makes History with First 30-20 Game in WNBA

In a standout performance that stunned fans and peers alike, Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson became the first player in WNBA history to record a 30-point, 20-rebound double-double. On the heels of her 29th birthday, Wilson poured in 32 points and hauled in 20 boards, adding five assists and two steals to power the Aces to a 94–86 win over the Connecticut Sun on Sunday night.

Aftermath and Remarkable Reactions

Coach Becky Hammon summed it up best: “It’s just A’ja being A’ja,” expressing both admiration and awe at Wilson’s feat. Hammon noted she had specifically avoided putting Wilson in too many offensive rebounding opportunities this season—but this night called for everything.

Wilson, ever humble and passionate, echoed that sense of disbelief: “I didn’t even know… it’s kind of a shocker that it's just now happening. It’s a blessing. I love what I do… Anytime that I can come out and just play basketball the way that I love it… I’m happy with that.” It was her 14th double-double of the season and her 30th career 30-point game.

Teammate Jackie Young added, “Every night she shows up… she’s a super hard worker… they’re bringing double teams to her, triple teams… she’s still able to put up insane numbers every night.”

Turning the Game Around

The Aces weathered a rough start before Wilson’s dominance flipped the rhythm. Las Vegas trailed early but responded with a lockdown stretch and a 12–0 run to tie the game by halftime. From there, their defense took command—fueling a turnaround from an 18–14 record to a fourth straight win and a 18–14 mark on the season.

A Legacy in the Making

This milestone is just the latest in a career defined by record-setting success. Wilson has previously been a three-time MVP and remains one of the most dominant forces in the league.
