Season five of Virgin River has officially started production after being renewed alongside season four.
As a result, the team has been working diligently on the most recent episodes.
Two days before the premiere of season four, it was revealed that the cast was already back in production.
The official Virgin River Instagram posted a screenshot of everyone at a virtual table read on Zoom and said: "A photo taken during a table read for Season 5 of our incredible cast.
Folks, you heard correctly. Season 5 is currently under production!"
It also reported that Patrick Sean Smith has joined the series as the new showrunner, giving the good ship Virgin River a new captain.
Sadly, this doesn't really assist us anticipate when the new episodes will return to our screens.
For seasons three and four, the release date was moved up to the summer, falling in July 2021 and 2022 respectively.
Seasons one and two were released in November 2019 and December 2020, respectively.
Given this trend, it appears likely that we may have to wait a full year for the next updates, barring a surprising turn of events (which we wouldn't rule out in this beautiful river town).
Naturally, Alexandra Breckenridge (Mel) and Martin Henderson are the stars of the ensemble (Jack).
Additionally confirmed are Annette O'Toole (Hope) and Tim Matheson (Doc).
The reading also featured Benjamin Hollingsworth (Dan Brady) and Zibby Allen (Brie).
