Hugh Jackman has expressed interest in returning for a musical sequel to The Greatest Showman, which could be closer to becoming a reality.

In an interview with People, Jackman responded to Michelle Williams' recent request for a sequel by noting that he would be "open" to the concept if it was good enough.

After joking about his relationship with franchise filmmaking, Jackman expressed desire for a sequel to The Greatest Showman.

When questioned about reprising his part as P.T. Barnum, the actor joked, "Listen, if you knew anything about my filmography, you'd know I'm utterly against sequels in any shape or form."  "A maximum of nine flicks!"

Jackman previously hinted at a sequel to The Greatest Showman, announcing in 2019 that he was working on something to continue the narrative of the Barnum & Bailey Circus.

Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson, and Zendaya feature in The Greatest Showman, directed by Michael Gracey in his directorial debut and written by Jenny Bicks and Bill Condon, with songs by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

The musical transports audiences to the early 1800s and follows P.T. Barnum, a guy with a natural gift for publicity and promotion who has been selling lottery tickets since he was a child.

Barnum's fascinating display, which features catchy musical numbers, exotic performers, and daring acrobatic feats, quickly catches the world by storm and becomes the greatest show on Earth.

What is the studio waiting for now that Hugh Jackman and Michelle Williams are on board?
