Ken enlists in the covert Earth Defense Force (EDF) to fight terrifying monsters that threaten humanity, led by the ghost of his late mentor. But when he finds a baby Kaiju that is orphaned and in need of protection, that presents his biggest obstacle. Ken learns that compassion and family are his greatest weapons against the forces of evil as he juggles caring for the young Kaiju with his responsibilities as Earth’s savior.
Movie Review
By prioritizing compassion and familial ties over outright bravery, Ultraman: Rising sets itself apart from other superhero stories. The film, which was directed by Shinji Higuchi, enthralls with its lively animation style and endearing plot. As Ken Sato, Christopher Sean gives a riveting performance, authentically capturing the character’s journey from self-doubt to heroic resolve. The voice cast, which includes Julia Harriman, Gedde Watanabe, Tamlyn Tomita, Keone Young, and others, gives the characters more nuance and helps the audience empathize with their challenges and victories. Ultraman: Rising demonstrates that love, rather than strength, can sometimes be our greatest asset.
