Angela Bassett Reflects on Her Oscars Loss in 2023

Angela Bassett was really disappointed with the Oscars 2023 last year. The actress then proceeded to share a lighter note as she talked about the Oscar's 2023 loss.

She talked candidly about how it felt to not hear her name and how she overcame it in a recent interview.

She is strong not just in her acting but also in her decisions and willpower. And that's how she overcame her Oscar defeat from the previous year.

Notable films received Academy Award nominations the previous year. It would have been difficult to pick just one because there was Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Whale, All Quite On The Western Front, and many more.

In addition, Angela Bassett created history when she was the first performer to be nominated for an Oscar for a performance in a Marvel Cinematic Universe film.

She had received two Oscar nominations prior to this one. Her debut appearance was in the film What's Love Got to Do with It.

But in 2023, Jamie Lee Curtis emerged victorious as the best supporting actress Oscar winner.

The Waiting to Exhale actress shared her displeasure, calling it "human," and "natural," while opening up to Oprah Winfrey during a recent OWN interview.

“It was, of course, a supreme disappointment, and disappointment is human. So I thought, yes, I was disappointed, and I handled it like a human being,” stated Bassett.
