"Poor Things" Reaches a Record-Breaking Milestone at the Worldwide Box Office

The dark comedy, which stars Emma Stone and was directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, is up for eleven Oscars this year.

Poor Things, a dark comedy fantasy movie that has been well received by critics and audiences for more than two months, is not going to have a sympathy party.

After spending its eleventh weekend in theatres worldwide, Poor Things achieved a significant box office milestone, positioning itself for more success as it approaches Oscars month as the second-most nominated film for the ceremony.

Poor Things has earned $32 million domestically and an additional $67 million from international markets, for a total global revenue of $99.6 million as of President's Day on Monday.

On Tuesday, it surpassed the coveted $100 million milestone globally, becoming director Yorgos Lanthimos' most successful film.

The filmmaker's most successful previous picture was his 2018 period dark comedy The Favourite, which grossed over $95 million worldwide and won Emma Stone an Oscar nomination.

The Favourite was Lanthimos' first work with Stone, who has since become something of a muse

She's garnering a lot of praise for her work in Poor Things, and she recently won the Best Actress BAFTA.

She is also nominated for an Oscar, and the picture has 11 nominations in total for the upcoming Academy Awards.

Stone and Lanthimos will return for the previously completed anthology film Kinds of Kindness, and it has recently been suggested that they may collaborate for the fourth time on a remake of the 2003 Korean sci-fi comedy Save the Green Planet!
