Robert Pattinson-starrer science fiction film Mickey 17 has been postponed to 2025

Mickey 17, an American science fiction film directed by South Korean Bong Joon-ho, has been rescheduled. Variety said that the movie has been rescheduled for 2025.

The highly anticipated joint venture between Bong Joon Ho and Robert Pattinson, Mickey 17, has been rescheduled by Warner Bros. to open on May 17, 2025.

The release date of the science fiction movie has been pushed back by Warner Bros. from March 29, 2024 to January 31, 2025.

Sources who spoke with Variety at the announcement of the change last month claim that the decision was made to lengthen the project's timeframe, which had been affected by strikes and other production changes last year.

Mickey 17 will now be able to launch in IMAX theaters in January 2025, a feature that would not have been possible with the original release schedule because those dates were all already booked for other movies.

Variety claims that January is also typically a slow month for film office receipts, with few new releases and many of the biggest hits (such as Wonka from last year, Aquaman from 2019 or American Sniper from 2015) continuing from its late December premieres.

Paddington in Peru, which opens in theaters nationwide on January 17, and Marvel's Captain America: Brave New World, which opens two weeks later on February 14, are the films' current rivals.

Mickey 17 is the first feature film by Bong since Parasite, which went on to become the highest-grossing Korean film in history and the first film not in English to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards.
