Actor Andrew Scott portrays the stylish con artist Tom Ripley in Netflix's Ripley

The first teaser for the Netflix limited series Ripley, which is based on Patricia Highsmith's well-known The Talented Mr. Ripley books, was just released.

Andrew Scott, star of Fleabag and Sherlock, plays the show's title character. Following the release of the Gwenyth Paltrow, Matt Damon, and Jude Law film The Talented Mr. Ripley in 1999, this is the first screen adaptation of these works.

The initial stylised black and white teaser for the series gave away very little, although it will follow The Talented Mr. Ripley, the first book's premise, exactly like the 1999 film. In the show, Tom Ripley will be employed by Herbert Greenleaf, a wealthy businessman, who will send him to New York to pick up his son Dickie.

However, Ripley will be mesmerized by Dickie Greenleaf's opulent lifestyle once they arrive in New York, and what follows is a tale of deceit and criminality.

We shall have a deeper understanding of Ripley's mental state and his experiences from the psychological thriller than we got from the film. Like the book, the television program is set in the 1960s.

The show will combine elements of a fantastic thriller with a stylized historical drama. And based on his performance, it appears that Andrew Scott will win over audiences' hearts once more.
