Ewan Mitchell, who plays Aemond Targaryen in the movie House of the Dragon, employs method acting to embody the character.
Aemond Targaryen may have found himself in a difficult predicament in House of the Dragon, but that has just provided his actor the ideal opportunity to really inhabit the role.
Of course, it can be challenging for Ewan Mitchell to truly inhabit his role of Aemond because he is such a complicated individual with a personality that is very different from his own.
Mitchell claimed that he has been utilizing method acting to have a deeper understanding of the rebellious Targaryen prince in an interview with The Face.
He said "I’m quite serious, probably way too much. I think method acting gets a bad rap nowadays, but if you consider it [in relation to] people’s time, it’s certainly not a bad thing."
"For Aemond, I definitely stayed in a state of character, because his temperature is so high, and I’m quite calm and collected. "
"So instead of fluctuating between the two, I’d find a middle ground that I could relax into between takes. For me, it made it that little bit more work efficient. "
Aemond has discovered how really unpredictable the Targaryen dragons are while attempting to frighten his nephew since Vhagar’s deeds will quickly spark a war.
That can be a challenging discovery for the impulsive Aemond, and it’s one of the reasons Season 2 of House of the Dragon is different from Season 1.
