Ukraine’s State Railway CEO Balczun Offers to Resign: Premier

By Daryna Krasnolutska

(Bloomberg) -- Wojciech Balczun, the CEO of state-run
railway company Ukrzaliznytsia, submits resignation, Prime
Minister Volodymyr Hroisman tells weekly government meeting in
Kiev.

Wojciech Balczun, CEO of state-run railway company Ukrzaliznytsia, had been feuding with Ukraine's Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelyan. The minister accused Balczun, a ponytailed rock musician and rail manager from Poland, of failing to win control of Ukraine's corruption-crippled railroad. Last Friday, Omelyan announced that Kyiv District Administrative Court invalidated a government decree from January that removed Ukrzaliznytsia from subordination to the Infrastructure Ministry, (UNIAN/Vladimir Musienko)

* Balczun cites “personal circumstances” for his resignation
* Cabinet to consider resignation Wednesday; first deputy
infrastructure minister will be acting CEO of Ukrzaliznytsia
